The City of Rock Hill Public Works Department Solid Waste Services are divided into four major divisions:
- Residential Garbage
Organic waste matter, both animal and vegetable, from kitchens composed primarily of waste food
- YardCart
Holds grass clippings, small limbs, leaves and other loose yard debris so automated trucks can pick it up at the curb
- Residential Recycling
Reusable material not including garbage, refuse, or hazardous materials
- Curbside Bulky Items & Yard Debris
Discarded household bulky items other than garbage and does not include business refuse or building materials
- Compost Center
Recycling leaves, grass clippings, weeds, brush, kitchen scraps and other organic waste
- Commercial Garbage
Modern, efficient bulk container collection system for businesses and industry
York County Convenience Centers accept all above items and also accept used motor oil, auto batteries and corrugated cardboard. There are 16 centers in the county—call 803/628-3181 for the one nearest you.
Dead animals reported to Public Works Department will be picked up weekdays from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Live animals that are a nuisance should be reported to York County Animal Control, 803/628-3190.
