National Night Out 2024

This year's National Night Out will be held on the evening of Tuesday, October 1. For more information, please contact Captain Rod Stinson with the RHPD Community Engagement division or Community Engagement Specialist Karen Marshall.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood fellowship to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas celebrates on the first Tuesday in October because of the hot and humid weather, and we decided to move our event to the Fall). We are asking neighborhoods to continue to participate as they have in the past by hosting block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more. It's an opportunity to thank our neighbors and law enforcement across the nation.

Participation in the City of Rock Hill's National Night Out has grown steadily over the years. Neighborhoods participate in the event by holding block parties, ice cream socials, fish-fries, barbecues and back-to-school events! In support of our neighborhoods, the City of Rock Hill sends caravans made up of City officials and representatives from Rock Hill Police, Fire, EMT, City Management and Neighborhood Empowerment out to each neighborhood event. City Council members participate in the visits as well.
