The Resource & Education Development Initiative (REDI) was implemented in early 2017 as a targeted revitalization strategy focused on improving neighborhoods with the greatest needs. Neighborhoods are selected through data collection and analysis of items such as police and fire calls, foreclosures and code enforcement issues, as well as access to community support services.

REDI Process

REDI follows a five-step process for success:

  • Community Engagement
  • Program Development
  • Resource Identification
  • Implementation
  • Evaluation

Program Goals

  • Outreach & education to better understand and prioritize concerns specific to the neighborhood.
  • Program development shaped in response to community-specific data and resident input.
  • Identify and target resources to help streamline services related to housing, infrastructure, public safety and community support.

REDI was first implemented in the Catawba Terrace neighborhood, with crime and code violations significantly reduced. Efforts are now underway in the Sunset Park neighborhood.
