Interfaith Prayer Breakfast Commemorates Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

In observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, the Community Relations Council of Rock Hill is looking forward to celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Interfaith Prayer Breakfast on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 8:30 AM at First Baptist Church.  Tickets for what is typically a sold-out event will go on sale on November 18, and details will be posted here then.

The Dream Keeper Award recipient will be revealed as part of the event program. This award recognizes exemplary displays of committed service to the tenets of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the ultimate dreamer.  The ideals of social responsibility, political empowerment, diversity, racial harmony, nonviolence, and unselfish service must be demonstrated voluntarily by the nominee on behalf of his or her community and fellow citizens.

The MLK Youth Essay Competition is presented by the Community Relations Council as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Interfaith Prayer Breakfast Event. To qualify for the award, students must either be a junior or senior attending a Rock Hill School District School or currently residing in the city limits of Rock Hill and should demonstrate a commitment to public service. Students interested in applying can reach out to their school's guidance counselors for an application or find it at the link below.  The top three essay winners will receive an award intended to support post high school education. The 1st place will receive $1,000, the 2nd place winner will receive $500, and the 3rd place winner will receive $250.
